#CHURCHTALK 14: Christianity or Denominations? (Part 1)
When people's results in the Christian faith do not agree with our own principles about the Christian faith, how did Apostle Paul address this?
He said to check for the most fundamental element of faith: a changed heart that is consistent with the most fundamental principle of faith (inward truthfulness or sincerity of heart).
Romans 2:17-29 [KJV]
17. Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,
18. And knowest his will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law;
19. And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness,
20. An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law.
21. Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?
22. Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?
23. Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God?
24. For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.
25. For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.
26. Therefore if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?
27. And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the law?
28. For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
29. But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
Christianity is not about rules nor organized bureaucracies on how to worship God. It is about a person: Jesus is how to worship God. He is the way, the truth and the life. It is about a changed heart, washed in the blood of the Lamb because of faith in Jesus Christ's sacrifice. It is about a new life of Hope, Faith and Love.
1 Corinthians 13:13 [KJV]
And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
It is about peace and reconciliation with God through one's acceptance of the Sonship and sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
Romans 5:1 [KJV]
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
Ephesians 2:14 [KJV]
For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
It is about redemption through the blood of Jesus Christ; and the receiving of forgiveness of sins according to the riches of His grace.
Ephesians 1:7 [KJV]
In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
Every other thing is a denominational addition, and hence subjective and subordinate to the work of salvation, which is Christianity.
