President Buhari's Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari Dies of Coronavirus


The Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, has passed on after about 24 days of battling Coronavirus infection.

Further details about his death are still sketchy at this time. But Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, announced his death via a tweet on his official Twitter handle about an hour ago.


He said, "Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari, passes on. May God rest his soul. Amen. Funeral arrangements to be announced soon."

Kyari was appointed by President Buhari on August 27, 2015, and was a major power player within government circles, with growing influence since then. On March 24, 2020, he was announced to have tested positive to coronavirus. He died in Lagos hospital on April 17, 2020.
