MUSIC VIDEO OF THE WEEK 18: Living Hope — Saddleback Worship
The best thing that ever happened to mankind is the coming, suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for our salvation. This is the message of Christianity.
Of all these, however, nothing gives hope to those who believe in Him like when they remember His resurrection from the dead. They live free and walk in victory daily because of the power of His resurrection which is in them. The early Christian apostles called it their 'living hope'.
Today, in the midst of a worldwide lockdown occasioned by the spread of a novel infectious disease, the world is in need of hope, even as many are currently infected, battling the disease, praying for a loved one that's infected or dying, or have already lost their loved ones. Others are healthy at home, but have lost their jobs and means of livelihood, or find themselves in the midst of a financial mess, right in the middle of a lockdown, with no hope for tomorrow.
But, about three weeks ago, the Saddleback Worship team sang a song about the "Living Hope" that is found through believing in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. And this is what the world needs at such a critical moment as this.
Saddleback Worship is a choir community that serves the Saddleback Church. They're based in Southern California, USA where they record their music. What's so amazing about the song is the fact that the Saddleback team sang and recorded it from isolation due to the social distancing rules of these times. Amazing, right? LYRICS
How great the chasm that lay between us
How high the mountain I could not climb
In desperation, I turned to heaven
And spoke Your name into the night
Then through the darkness, Your loving-kindness
Tore through the shadows of my soul
The work is finished, the end is written
Jesus Christ, my living hope
Who could imagine so great a mercy?
What heart could fathom such boundless grace?
The God of ages stepped down from glory
To wear my sin and bear my shame
The cross has spoken, I am forgiven
The King of kings calls me His own
Beautiful Savior, I'm Yours forever
Jesus Christ, my living hope
Hallelujah, praise the One who set me free
Hallelujah, death has lost its grip on me
You have broken every chain
There's salvation in Your name
Jesus Christ, my living hope
Hallelujah, praise the One who set me free
Hallelujah, death has lost its grip on me
You have broken every chain
There's salvation in Your name
Jesus Christ, my living hope
Then came the morning that sealed the promise
Your buried body began to breathe
Out of the silence, the Roaring Lion
Declared the grave has no claim on me
Then came the morning that sealed the promise
Your buried body began to breathe
Out of the silence, the Roaring Lion
Declared the grave has no claim on me
Jesus, Yours is the victory, whoa!
Hallelujah, praise the One who set me free
Hallelujah, death has lost its grip on me
You have broken every chain
There's salvation in Your name
Jesus Christ, my living hope
Hallelujah, praise the One who set me free
Hallelujah, death has lost its grip on me
You have broken every chain
There's salvation in Your name
Jesus Christ, my living hope
Jesus Christ, my living hope
Oh God, You are my living hope
