In 2014, President Obama Predicted a Global Pandemic in 2019

So, did you know that on December 02, 2014, then-US President, Barack Obama predicted a global pandemic that could happen in 2019? Yes, he did. And it has happened. Looks like he saw COVID-19 way ahead of time.

In the wake of the Ebola crises that hit some West African states and was also recorded in the US in that year, Obama was speaking at a White House press conference where he was addressing the need for congress to pass an Ebola crises funding bill which his administration had sent to them for approval.

He called for more pandemic preparedness, not only in the US but across the globe, in such a manner that the world will be able to swiftly contain any sudden outbreak of a disease before it can spread.

Particularly, he said, "There may and likely will come a time in which we have both an airborne disease that is deadly. And, in order for us to deal with that effectively, we have to put together an infrastructure — not just here at home, but globally — that allows us to see it quickly, isolate it quickly, and respond to it quickly. So that if and when a new strain of flu, like the Spanish flu, crops up, FIVE years from now, or a decade from now, we've made the investment, and we're further along to be able to catch it."

"The funding were asking for is needed to keep strengthening our capacity here at home, so we can respond to any further Ebola cases. It's needed to help us partner with other countries to prevent and deal with future outbreaks and threats before they become epidemics.
