2023: Gbadamosi Defects Back to PDP
Babatunde Gbadamosi, shortly after he defected last Saturday |
Action Democratic Party (ADP) governorship candidate in the 2019 gubernatorial election in Lagos state, Mr. Babatunde Gbadamosi, has defected back to the People's Democratic Party (PDP). He defected officially on February 22, 2020.
In what is seen as a strategic political realignment, Gbadamosi is certainly positioning himself for a major political showing in the coming 2023 governorship election in the state.
Earlier, Gbadamosi was the governorship candidate of the PDP in the 2011 elections, which he lost to Babatunde Fashola of the Action Congress of Nigeria. He also contested for the governorship ticket of the PDP again in 2015, but lost to Jimi Agbaje who eventually flew the party's flag in that year's election.
He then joined the ADP under which he contested for the governorship seat again in 2019, but lost to Babajide Sanwo-Olu (the current governor of the state).
Gbadamosi is a real estate mogul. He is the chairman of AMEN Estates, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, and also RedBricks Homes International Limited, a property development company.
During the 2019 elections, he promised a significant increase of civil servant's payment package in the state, as well as the development of 10,000 housing units per year in order to tackle the current housing deficit in Nigeria's Centre of Excellence.
